16 Self-Discovery Journal Prompts to Find Out Who You Really Are
Feb 01, 2020If you’ve found your way to this article, you’re probably the type of person who, at least on some level, yearns for self-understanding.
Not just the “Yeah, I finally realized that I prefer tea over coffee” kind of self-understanding, but true, authentic, holy-shit-I’ve-uncovered-some-deep-inner-wisdom-that-is-going-to-change-the-way-I-live-my-life self-discovery.
I have to tell you, if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to find your passions, learn about your own internal values, and become a happier version of yourself, you’re not likely to find a sustainable solution. There is no shortcut to personal growth, and you, much like everything else in this world, are a constant work-in-progress. You will never be “done” developing, so you will never absolutely master self-awareness!
That said, consistently taking time to reflect on your core beliefs, desires, interests, limiting thought patterns, and goals for the future, can lead to significant leaps in personal growth and fulfillment.
If you’re willing to put forth a bit of time, dedication, and willingness to be vulnerable, I highly recommend starting an introspective journaling practice.
Essentially, you’ll take a bit of time each day (or each week if that works better for your schedule! There’s no one “right” way to do this!) and journal your responses to deeply thought-provoking questions.
Regardless of whether you’re a personal growth newbie, or an old hat at soul-searching, introspective journaling will increase your self-awareness, which will allow you to move more fully into the light of your desires and dreams.
Below, I’m sharing my own list of 16 epic prompts to get you started on your self-discovery journaling journey (Whew! Try saying that 5 times fast!). To see 9 bonus prompts, download the full PDF at the bottom of the article!
